13th Deutscher Kaesemarkt, Nieheim – Germanys longest cheese counter.
Every other year the almost 800 year old town of Nieheim organizes the “Deutscher Kaesemarkt”, where about 60 producers from all over Germany as well as mongers from Austria, Italy and France will present their treasures to a curious crowd.
This year the town expects as many as 60.000! visitors who will stroll through the little streets of Nieheim in North Rhine-Westphalia with a cheesy smile on their faces.
And since cheese is always a lover of wine, different german winemakers will serve perfect matches and offer their Rieslings and other delicious german wines.
Nieheim, by the way, is home to the“german museum of cheese”which, when in town, you should definitely stop by.

At the end of September, on the weekend of the 21st and 22nd, dairies all over Italy will take part in this open day event.
There will be tastings of cheese, wine and other artisanal products as well as guided tours of the dairies and the property around. You will be able to get in contact with the animals, ask questions about the production and the farmer´s daily-life and fill up your shopping bags with all kinds of goodies.
Last year more than 60 cheese dairies in all of Italy took place in this unique event – a weekend not to miss!

International Cheese&Dairy Awards 2024 – Stafford, UK
This year´s International Cheese&Dairy Awards again take place in Bingley Hall at the Staffordshire Show Ground – same location, new sensation!
Every year within just 2 days – more than 5.500 (!) cheeses from 30+ countries, get judged by hundreds of international jurors and delegates. An event that makes every cheese lovers heart beat just a little faster!
It’s a big feast and everyone lucky enough to be in the area should mark their calendar!

Besides cheese this festival which basically fills out the entire inner town offers all kinds of other italian delights such as Salumi, Oils, Chutneys, Wine and Beer!
100 cheeses in 10 different categories are in the race.
The top 3 of each category will be in the semi-finals in Chiesetta del Toresino on Saturday and Sunday. BUT there will be a last tasting by an external jury and only one cheese can leave as the ultimate winner. The prize-giving will take place in late 2024- we are looking forward to it!
The event is of course open to the public, free entrance, 10€ fee/ for the tasting

* Love, Cheese, Live * in Stafford is one of the largest cheese, food and drink festivals of the entire UK!
You can sample delicious foods, attend workshops as well as eye-&bag-shop at the tables of hundreds of artisan producers. More over, there will be cheese- pairings and master classes as well as live music and enough drinks to easily get you through day and night.

The World Championship Cheese Contest was established in 1957. Taking place every 2 years it the world´s largest technical cheese, butter and yogurt competition and in 2022 attracted makers from 29 nations. At this 3 day event participating products are evaluated by judges from all over the world.

1st Day of Pastoralism – Palazzo Pirelli, Milan, Italy
2023 will be the year of the 1st celebrated Day of Pastoralism with many years to follow.
On Thursday, November 9th Palazzo Pirelli in Milan will open its doors to celebrate the very first Day of Pastoralism, which in the future will be celebrated each year on November 11th
Mountain pastures, transhumance and pastoralism are three connected key components for the protection of the environment, food production as well as cultural heritage.
For this reason ERSAF (Ente Regionale per i Servizi all’ Agricoltura e alle Foreste) is organizing a conference in the name of Pastoralism that will have talks and discussions on the profession of shepherds, territory, routes of transhumance as well as native animal breeds all in the context of history, identity and future visions.
To participate you have to register in advance but Gustav says if you just want to celebrate the first day of pastoralism you can do this everywhere at anytime!

This year the World Cheese Awards, the event every cheese lover is waiting for will take place at Spektrum in Trondheim, Norway.
