Edelschimmel – Cheese Bar and Shop

Since 2017 the owners of the restaurant Pramerl & the Wolf also run Vienna´s first cheese bar.
Here you can pick your favorites of the small but well-sorted cheese selection or let the friendly staff guide you to new shores on offer. Enjoy your friends with a glass of wine on the spot or carry them home for a later joy of your prey. Jumi

This little store has been around Vienna since 2015 and can be found in the 8th district on Lange Gasse 29, Wednesday through Saturday. Jumi stands for best swiss cheese and the store with its humidors and free standing baskets offers plenty of deliciousness. Don´t miss to try the “après soleil” named after the maturation process in which the sunlight streams through the aging rooms.  [googlemaps]

The market stalls of the Gruber family can be found every Saturday at the Karmelitermarkt in Viennas 2nd district as well as the Naschmarkt and Vienna´s Yppenmarkt in the 16th. With a lot of knowledge and passion they pick their cheeses on offer from handselected farmers, mainly from Switzerland and Vorarlberg, Austria. Käseland

The Käseland can be found right in the heart of Viennas biggest food market-  the Naschmarkt. It has been around for over 40 years and the always friendly staff will be happy to guide you through their many offerings.
If you have a little time ,try one of their prefixed cheese plates or create your own and enjoy it with a glass of wine at one of the tables in front of the store.[googlemaps]

Lingenhel

The Lingenhel in Viennas 3rd District is not only known for the good food and friendly service of the restaurant but also as a spot for the cheese hunters.
With enthusiasm and passion Johannes Lingenhel transformed the ground floor of a 220year old house into a little oasis for the gourmets. In the back of the restaurant a former horsebarn was turned into a show cheese dairy where Lingenhel and his staff manufacture their own cheese and cheese lovers can book an evening of contemplative cheese making. Der Schweizer

Being present at the Saturday Bauernmarkt of the Karmelitermarkt, der Schweizer also has a little store on Wollzeile 15 right in the center of Vienna. Aside from the Swiss he also offers  English cheeses as well as fresh Austrian buffalo cheese by Kamptal based Robert Paget. [googlemaps]

Tutta Posto

Not a cheese shop in the classical sense but a little store of Italian delicacies that also has a handful selected cheeses on offer. Danilo Fusco, former food sales manager from Italy opened his Tutta Posto in late 2020 and makes sure that our cheese searching hearts can discover something new every time we enter the store.
