where to shop in…France

Marseille

L´Art de la Fromagerie

If in Marseille L Art de la Fromagerie is definitely the place to go, taste and shop. The stylish and more than well assorted shop spoils its customers with cheeses from all over France and beyond since 1952. They organize events, tastings and 12 times a year come up with a  new cheese basket of the month! c´est magnifique![googlemaps]

Paris

Chez Virginie

The family business Chez Virginie founded in 1946, is located on 54 Rue Damrémont and has been a top on address since 1995. The location they call their own has a cheese history that dates back to 1900 and Virginie, if not in the store, might well be down in the basement where she ripes her cheeses to perfection.  One can almost be happy that “all” she has on offer is raw milk cheese, otherwise you might never be able to leave the store again. Strasbourg

La Cloche à Fromage

Just when you think there are no cheese mongers who can offer things you haven´t already seen, you might stumble into La Cloche à Fromage in Strasbourg. The family run business “fromagerie Tourette” managed to enter the Guiness book of records in 1989 for having the largest cheese board under a glass bell. For what ever that is worth – it´s definitely worth is a visit. Have a yummy raclette or cheese menu dinner at the restaurant adjoining the boutique in 32 Rue des Tonneliers, or just peak into the shop and let the staff guide you through their treisures. La Cloche à Fromage has 2 stores in Strassburg and 6 more in the rest of France. [googlemaps]
