Formaggio in Villa – Cittadella, PD, Italy

Formaggio in Villa – tra le mura di CITTADELLA, PD

The 12th edition of Formaggio in Villa, hosting the nomination for the Italian Cheese Awards, will take place in Cittadella in the Province of Padua.

Besides cheese this festival which basically fills out the entire inner town offers all kinds of other italian delights such as Salumi, Oils, Chutneys, Wine and Beer!

100 cheeses in 10 different categories are in the race.

The top 3 of each category will be in the semi-finals in Chiesetta del Toresino on Saturday and Sunday. BUT there will be a last tasting by an external jury and only one cheese can leave as the ultimate winner. The prize-giving will take place in late 2024- we are looking forward to it!

The event is of course open to the public, free entrance, 10€  fee/ for the tasting

Gustav says he has only the best memories and is already packing his bags!
[here you have our story from our 2018 visit (back then not in Cittadella yet]

Fiera del Formaggio di Fossa – Sogliano al Rubicone, Italy

Fiera del Formaggio di Fossa – Sogliano al Rubicone, Italy

This year Fiera del Formaggio di Fossa, the Fossa Cheese Fair goes into its 47th round!

As in previous years the Fair will be held in Sogliano sul Rubicone in Italy´s Forlì-Cesena province on the outer edge of the Emilia-Romagna.

On three Sundays the event that traditionally attracts thousands of visitors will offer food stands with pit cheese as well as other typical products from Italy and the area. And of course it wouldn´t be a festival if there would not also be lots of tastings, wine and performances.

DATES: Sunday 20th of November – Sunday 27th of November – Sunday 4th of December

go pro on your cheese knives!

Gustav and I often get asked which knives are best to use for cutting different types of cheeses. Gustav’s answer is, obviously, that you don´t need knives at all and just use your fangs—but mine naturally is not quite as simple.

So what is the basic must-have equipment to properly cut our friends without harm to us or them?
