7th Fête de la Tête de Moine

From May 4th to May 5th, 2024, the little town of Bellelay will celebrate it´s famous offspring * Tête de Moine *, a jewel of Swiss culinary heritage!

There will be a world cheese platter competition, a tasting of Tête de Moine and also 2024 guest of honor, the famous Sbrinz.

On 2 days you will be able to taste plenty of cheeses, walk through market stalls and watch the making of Tête de Moine and Vacherin Fribourgeois. Moreover there will be guided visits to the Tête de Moine Museum as well as evening  live performances.

There are some cheeses that deserve their own festival  and Vacherin Mont-d´Or is definitely one of them! 

Every year on the first Saturday after fast-Monday in September you can witness the cattle procession coming back to the valley and also be among the first to try the very first cheese of the season.

It´s the biggest event of the valley and each year attracts several thousand visitors –
so if in the area make sure to be one of them!

Lugano Cheese Festival 2024- Lugano, Switzerland

After the sucess of the first  Lugano Cheese Festival in 2017 it is now a fixed stop on the list of Swiss Cheese festivals.

The star of the show, «formaggio d’alpe ticinesi» AOP is produced high up above the valleys. It mirrors the taste of landscape and tradition alike and is certainly a must try!

There will be music, showcase cheese production, milking sessions and most important more than 450 different kinds of cheeses that are waiting to be tasted and taken home!

Gustav wants to point out that this year the Lugano Cheese Festival shines under the star of the Swiss Cheese Awards with this years election of the three Swiss Champions during the Ticino Festival!

Swiss Cheese Awards 2024 – Bern, Switzerland

Finally after a 2 year wait it´s time for the 13th Swiss Cheese Awards!

In 2024 up to 1000 cheeses in 32 categories will run for being the best of Switzerland!

150 jurors from all over the world decide for the best cheeses in each category, which later on can be tasted at a long mouthwatering buffet!

Of the winning cheeses in each category 3 will be crowned at the Lugano Cheese Festival to be the top of the Swiss notch!

The Käsefest Basel will this year take place in the middle of town on Barfüsserplatz. The festival will opens its gates to cheese lovers and -seekers and promises a great tasting experience all the way through Switzerland´s finest finds.
There will be lot´s of entertainment with music, show-cheesing and even cows (live cow milking included!) in the midst of town.

Dozens of different dairies will present their milk- and cheese specialities and there will be tons of cold- and warm cheeseplates to get you trough the day.

And by the way – Basel is always worth a trip!

It is no  secret that Switzerland is a country full of cheese. Fortunately it is also a country full of Cheese Festivals!

After October´s events in Luzern, Bern, Montreux and Appenzell the last Cheese festival of the year will take place in Rapperswil-Jona in Switzerland´s canton of St. Gallen.

With almost 30 producers the festival will offer a cheese market as well as musical entertainment, all in the setting of  beautiful lake Zurich.

Suisse Fondue Festival – Fribourg, CH

For the 1st (!) time this festival will take place in Fribourg Switzerland from November 17th until November 20th!
The fondue Moitié-Moitié is part of the cultural heritage of the city and canton Fribourg and is made by using
 Guyère AOP cheese together with Vacherin Firbourgeois AOP.

Just for the festival the city of Fribourg built La Bûche , a 16m high structure with enough space for producers and guests alike.

Tickets are CHF29 for adults with special discounts for students and children under 16.
Children up to  6years are free of charge.
