Artisan Cheese Awards 2026 – Tokyo, Japan
Since 2017 the Japanese Cheese Art Association of Japan write cheese all over their flag and this year will host its first national cheese tasting competition based on international ICES standards!
Inspired by the country’s renowned sake tasting competitions, the event will assess cheeses for appearance, texture, and flavor while setting new benchmarks for quality in Japanese cheese production. The event is taking place on June 5th and tasters will decide which cheeses make it into the finale of the Artisan Cheese Awards 2026.
Cheeses that made it into the Artisan Cheese Awards will be judged by an international jury that will crown the Champion Cheese of Japan.
The event seeks out to honor cultural traditions, regional character, and meticulous craftsmanship of Japanese cheese makers, fostering cultural exchange and sharing the story of “Made in Japan” cheese with a global audience.
